Research progress in the comparison of the application outcomes of extended depth of focus intraocular lenses in cataract patients with different axial lengths

Abstract:

This review summarizes the application outcomes of extended depth of focus(EDOF)intraocular lenses(IOLs)in cataract patients with varying axial lengths,with a focus on comparing the postoperative visual quality and patient satisfaction between EDOF IOLs and bifocal or trifocal IOLs.The research indicates that EDOF IOLs have advantages in intermediate vision correction and reducing optical disturbances,making them particularly suitable for patients with high myopia with axial lengths greater than 26 mm.In contrast,trifocal lenses perform better in near vision and overall patient satisfaction.Although current studies provide valuable references for clinical practice,more high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed in the future to validate the advantages and disadvantages of different types of IOLs,in order to develop more personalized treatment plans for cataract patients.
