Research progress in the design of the posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens

Abstract:

Posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens(PC-pIOL)implantation,as one of the most important methods of refractive surgery,has been widely used for the correction of low,moderate,and high myopia.As more and more pIOLs are used in clinical,it is necessary to summarize the design of these pIOLs.ICL V4c has been used in clinical for a long time,and its platehaptic,four haptic ends,central hole design has become the mainstream.In recent years,the newly appeared pIOLs(the implantable phakic contact lens,eyecryl Phakic IOL)are improved on this basis(e.g.,increasing the number of haptic ends,expanding the optical zone,and increasing the choice of sizes,etc.);while the PRL is limited in clinical use due to its failure to provide astigmatism correction and serious postoperative complications,the pIOLs have introduced a multifocal design to realize the correction of myopia and presbyopia.With technological advances and design innovations,the clinical application of pIOLs will become more widespread and customized.
