Abstract:

Small incision corneal stromal lens extraction (SMILE) is the most advanced corneal refractive surgery at present. Its effectiveness, precision and safety make myopia correction work step up to a new level again. There is no need for flap making and minimally invasive surgery for SMILE; its postoperative corneal reaction is light, the incision healing is fast, the visual quality is ideal, and the complication is few but light. However, SMLIE also has some limitations, such as specific indications, contraindications, and complications for surgery, limited secondary surgery, high operation difficulty, and high price. In this paper, the research progress of indications, contraindications, the advantages and disadvantages for femtosecond laser SMILE were reviewed.
