Abstract:

Congenital nystagmus is an eye movement dysfunction disease, which is characterized by conjugate, involuntary, reciprocating and repetitive movement of the eye, often accompanied by binocular visual impairment, visual dysfunction and/or abnormal head position. The etiology of the disease is unknown, the clinical manifestations are diverse and difficult to treat. The macular fixation image of patients with nystagmus moves too fast on the retina, which leads to the decrease of vision and motor sensitivity, and also brings psychological and sociological constraints to patients. The recent research focuses on the improvement of surgical methods, surgical volume and genetics. The etiology, classification, clinical manifestations and treatment of congenital nystagmus are reviewed.
