Abstract:

Due to the special anatomical, physiological and developmental characteristics of children eyeballs, cataract surgery and postoperative management in children are faced with great challenges. Suitable timing, fine surgery, accurate calculation of IOL power and timely diagnosis and treatment of postoperative complications are very important for good visual function in children with cataract. However, many related treatments for children with cataract have not yet formed a consensus in the clinic, and the postoperative results also require further clinical follow-up observation and discussion. In recent years, there has been a new understanding of the timing of surgery for children′s cataract, new methods of surgery, such as minimally invasive lens regeneration surgery, artificial intelligence formulas for IOL calculation, and new progress in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of complications after cataract surgery in children. In this paper, the clinical research progress of children with cataract is reviewed from the above aspects, and the complexity of children's cataract is analyzed.
